Wedding day!

Good Morning

Capturing you and your bridesmaids getting ready always starts the day off on a high note. The giggles, the chaos, the brief moments of calm and contemplation…it can make for a set of really heart-warming and often beautifully funny shots.

Deep breath

That sliver of time between the veil being fastened and the walk down the aisle. Be it the groom nervously fidgeting with his tie, the last minute wedding guests dashing into the church or the bride checking herself one last time in the mirror at her parent’s home, this suspended time before everything becomes real is quite magical.

The Ceremony

It’s here. The moment that all the planning, preparation and effort of the past few months has been building up to. Some churches and venues can be a little restrictive when it comes to the photographer but I have ways of getting round the more severe scenarios. Not much will stop me from capturing the tears, smiles and fluffed lines of your vows.

THE NEW MR & MRS

Congratulations! As soon as that’s done, it’s amazing how the nerves instantly dissolve, replaced by beaming, unstoppable smiles. From catching your best friend’s eye on your way back down the aisle with your new husband, to running that confetti gauntlet, these shots are usually pure joy. No posing required.

JUST US TWO

This is the one that’s going to be on your wall for some time so lots of people feel the pressure for the big newly married shot. In my experience, however, it’s a time to relax into your new roles as husband and wife and just smile. I like to strike a balance between formal and laid-back by disappearing with you both for just enough time to create some of my signature couple portraits. This usually makes for the best post-ceremony pictures and really captures how you’re both feeling at that particular moment.

THE GUESTS

Guests – it’s not a wedding without them! Uncles, aunts, grandparents, mums, dads, uni friends, work friends and oldest friends, when you look back on you day you want to remember everyone who turned up to celebrate with you and all the people who made it so, so special. A wedding is so much more than a party, it’s a reunion of all those who have meant something to you throughout your life thrown together with plenty of fizz and a bit of music. It doesn’t get much better than that.

SPEECHES!!

Ah, the wedding speeches. My favourite tradition by far, the laughs, the tears, the sheer audacity of the best man after too many glasses of fizz, they’re the stuff memories are made of. I find some of my best shots have been of guests listening, giggling and taking bets during the speech portion of the day. The reactions to the stories and character assassinations are so real and wonderful.
